What to Expect at Your LASIK Consultation
At Colorado Eye Surgeons, our goal is to provide you with a comprehensive evaluation and all the information you need to make an informed decision about your vision correction options.
What Happens at a LASIK Consultation?
When you arrive for your consultation, you'll be greeted by our friendly staff who will check you in before meeting Dr. Pennington. When meeting Dr. Pennington, he will review your medical history including any eye conditions, previous surgeries, and medications you’re currently taking. This information helps us determine if you’re a suitable candidate for laser vision correction and which procedure might be best for you. Next, a detailed eye examination to assess your overall eye health and determine your candidacy for laser vision correction. An important part of the consultation is addressing any questions or concerns you may have. We encourage you to ask about the procedure, recovery process, potential risks, and expected outcomes. Our goal is to ensure you feel fully informed and comfortable with your decision
After discussing your options with Dr. Pennington if you decide to proceed with surgery you would then return for a pre-operative appointment. We use state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment to gather precise measurements of your eyes. These measurements are crucial for planning your potential laser vision correction procedure.
At the pre operative appointment, the examination would include:
Visual acuity testing
Refraction to determine your precise prescription
Corneal topography to map the surface of your eye
Pupil dilation for a comprehensive retinal examination
Intraocular pressure measurement
We use state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment to gather precise measurements of your eyes. These measurements are crucial for planning your potential laser vision correction procedure.
Customized Treatment Plan for Laser Vision Correction
If you're a good candidate for laser vision correction, we'll create a customized treatment plan tailored to your unique eyes and visual needs. I'll explain how we use the excimer laser to reshape your cornea, correcting nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism.
